Making Things...

Its day…who frigin knows…of the Coronashit quarantine.

I started to feel better about all of this, and have started to pull myself together and make some work.

2D work is where it’s at, though I am making some interesting pieces in the studio as well.

I am running very low on silver and pieces, as well as tools, that I need for making work… so that is difficult,

and RioGrande is being very slow to ship, understandably.

It has been 11 days since I placed my order.

Welp. Im bored and will keep this more updated. Not that anyone reads it anyways though…hehe.

Oh Coronavirus.

I've been a bit absent on here with official posts, and thb, it’s because I've been struggling to adjust to all of this newfound time and weirdness.
I've lost my job. I've been working some kind of job or another since I was 13, and it feels so strange to not have a reliable income or a place to work. In that regard, I know I have been lucky.
Ive been struggling with depression and other mental disorders quietly, and all of this does not help. I know many other people are in very similar situations as me, especially in the small business world, and are also having trouble with all of this sudden change. I hope we can all pull through it.
Luckily, I do have my small art and jewelry business, which has allowed me to make a bit of extra money in the past, and now is my main source of income that I need to rely on.
Maybe this is a silver lining, (since I do work in silver) and will allow me to work on my art in a way that Ive never been able to. Im going to be pushing full force to get my business where I would like it to be!

Oh Hello.

I cannot use technology apparently, and erased the original version of my introduction, so this one will be shorter, sweeter, and more to the point (?)

My name is Shea Mizuno. I have a hard time defining what is important in defining me as a human, but here goes anyways.

I am an artist, researcher, and writer. I am primarily (formally) a metalsmith/jeweler, but dabble in many different visual art medias such as painting, mixed media, small sculpture, blah blah blah. You get it.

I also was a double major in Art history (in addition to Jewelry/Metalsmithing), and love to occasionally do some intense original research, and write a paper or two. Something I am working on doing more, in conjunction on brushing up on proper grammar and reading more…

I do not like to pigeonhole myself into any certain art form. I have always had diverse interests within art and in life, and will continue to do so. If you see a quick change in format, it was because I did not have any ideas that interested me at the time, and see no point in forcing myself to make when I do not have the inspiration. I will return back to that form when I see fit and have the impulse to.

My inspirations are wide, and I will not go into them as not to further bore whomever is reading this. They do seem to be pretty obvious in much of my work, but perhaps not as obvious as I may think.

Anyways, more to come. More to ramble on about later. Peace.
